Wheels and Rims

Owned by the Marzorati family of Milan since the 1960's, the Ambrosio company actually dates back to 1923. Pioneers of using aluminium alloys, the Ambrosio brothers were the first in the world to produce aluminium handlebars, stems and rims. Ambrosio tubular rims are famous for decades of success at the cobbled Paris-Roubaix classic in France.

Now with a range incorporating modern carbon fibre technology, Ambrosio builds complete wheels for all levels of cycling com- petition. Ambrosio products have always been characterised by their durability. Every year for the Spring classics in Europe, Pro team mechanics put aside sponsored wheels and build up the specialist Ambrosio Nemesis aluminium rims. While not the lightest rims or wheels, Ambrosio are trusted by the world's fastest riders in the world's roughest racing conditions. For the larger or stonger rider, or for constant miles on bad roads, Ambrosio are the obvious choice. The Ambrosio carbon wheels are made with additional plies for extra resistance to flex and road impacts. Road models all have differential rim heights, a deeper rear wheel for stiffness and shallower front for better control when racing in windy conditions. The Power 60-80 model is aerodynamically optimised for average speeds over 45kmh while the X-5038 and Power 38-58 are more suited for around 40kmh. The X-Track wheelset with 28 spokes front and rear is made for riders with a very high power output competing on velodromes with extreme degree banking. For high milage training and hilly race courses the Jazz wheels use slightly larger bladed aluminium spokes. These spokes are resistant to torque loads under acceleration and so make the Jazz model perfect for when constant changes in speeds are necessary. F-28 Comp and Pista are solid dependable training wheels for the road and track respectively. Country Jazz 26" takes the same technology from the equivalent road model and transforms it into an XC/Enduro race worthy wheelset. The Duetto Plus is for the MTB rider who perhaps wants a second wheelset set up with slick tyres for road riding and commuting. When reliability is more important than saving a few grams, Ambrosio wheels are a clear favourite.
